Day 3 - Today's Tip on a Healthy Gut - Are you ready for this?

Brace yourself!! We’re going to talk stools, and we don't mean furniture! 💩

Why? Because a conversation about gut health is incomplete without some stool talk. Your poop can provide valuable insights into your digestive health and how you can improve it!

The Bristol Stool Chart is a helpful guide that categorizes different types of stools. Take a look at what your poop may indicate about your gut health using the Bristol Stool Chart:

🔸 Type 1: Hard Lumps - These are separate, hard, and difficult to pass. This type of stool indicates constipation and possibly a lack of fiber and hydration. It suggests you'd benefit from increasing your fiber intake and drinking plenty of water.

🔸 Type 2: Lumpy and Sausage-like - This type of stool is lumpy but has a more cohesive appearance. It points to mild constipation and the need for more fiber and water intake.

🔸 Type 3: Sausage-shaped with Cracks - Stools that resemble a sausage with surface cracks are considered normal and healthy. This indicates a well-balanced diet with sufficient fiber and hydration.

🔸 Type 4: Smooth and Soft - Described as soft, smooth, and easy to pass, type 4 stools are considered the ideal form. They indicate a healthy gut and optimal digestion. This is what we want to strive for.

🔸 Type 5: Soft Blobs - Stools that are soft and in pieces or blobs may suggest a slightly accelerated transit time through the intestines. This could mean mild diarrhea or a gut bacteria imbalance. It suggests you should check your diet to ensure you're not consuming too many processed foods or foods that irritate your digestive tract.

🔸 Type 6: Mushy - This type of stool may be mild diarrhea. It could be a sign of a gastrointestinal issue or food intolerance. If you consistently experience this type, it's a good idea to consult a healthcare professional for evaluation.

🔸 Type 7: Watery and Entirely Liquid - Stools that are entirely liquid are characteristic of severe diarrhea. This indicates an urgent need for medical attention, as it could be a sign of infection or a more serious digestive condition.

REMEMBER: The Bristol Stool Chart is a general guide, and occasional variations in stool types can be normal. However, if you consistently notice significant changes in your stool appearance or experience persistent digestive symptoms, it's advisable to seek medical advice.

Check out the chart I shared and take a mental note of where you're at and where you need to be.

➡️ Now, we'd love to hear from you! 🎤 How familiar are you with the Bristol Stool Chart, and have you ever used it to assess your gut health? Are you going to from now on?

This cleanse and the supplements, water, and exercise should be helping to move your stools. This week they may be a little watery, or very rarely someone complaints of constipation. If this is happening to you, up your WATER intake!

Are you learning things you didn't know yet ? :)
